We are pleased to announce that the Noisy Movement in collaboration with Sex? on Campus will be hosting a pub quiz and raffle on November 15th at Home Bar. We will be fundraising for Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre as part of our This is Not Consent campaign and any profit made will go to them directly.
We are aware of the recent appearance of Edinburgh Rape Crisis in the news over the dismissal of a worker for “gender critical views”. We believe that Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre will keep the needs of their service users at the centre of their work and that they will implement the changes needed.
We decided to fundraise for them to support the work they do both for the prevention of sexual violence and the support they offer to survivors. They strive to offer inclusive services and we hope to see them improve these in conversation with service users. The Noisy Movement supports their work to provide a range of online and in-person services to help listen to and support survivors of sexual violence. ERCC’s Student Survivors Project further aims to help students advocate on their behalf within or outwith the university. They offer a safe place for survivors of sexual violence of any kind to discuss and find support.
Global estimates published by the World Health Organisation in 2021 indicate that about 1 in 3 (30%) of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
