The Noisy Movement is proud to present our newest series: Recipes of Empowerment! Here we invite people to showcase a favourite recipe of theirs and why this particular food makes them feel empowered. Hope you enjoy the first chapter of this series written by our very own Ishbel Ross!

When Jasleen reached out and asked if anyone was interested in writing about people and recipes that we find empowering I was really inspired! The recipe I have chosen is a family recipe that my mum taught me!
Although it’s a fairly basic recipe, it’s a really special one for me as it is one that she would make for me and my sister when we were having a bad day, or she would heat up when we would come home drunk from a night out, and we would all have a laugh sharing stories!
She is the person who inspires me most, she is kind and creative and extremely hard working. All the values that I hold close to my heart such as kindness, fairness and social justice I have learned from her and this is one of the reasons I got involved with The Noisy Movement.
She always speaks up for those who don’t have a voice and she is particularly passionate about the environment; we even went vegan together at the start of 2020 because of this! She has empowered me to always speak up for what I believe in and for those that don’t have a voice, and most importantly to always be kind.
